How many times have you entered ipconfig /all at the command line to return a single IP address, then have to strain your eyes sifting through mostly unwanted networking info (subnet mask/gateway/DNS/mac address)? As a sysadmin, after rinsing and repeating this process nearly every day of your waking sysadmin life, this tends to lean towards the monotonous side. What I would like to propose is to declare an environment variable which utilizes native Windows CLI tools which strips out the information you don’t need while leaving the gold behind, the IP address. Create a short and easy environmental variable so that the […]
Ecommerce development or magento development works for the transformations needed in the IT world. Docker is the most popular and used container platform. Virtual machines (VMs) are increasingly used by businesses. A VM is an operating system or application environment installed on software. It allows the user to enjoy the same experience as on a physical machine, with several advantages. In particular, it is possible to run multiple OS environments on the same machine, isolating them from each other. Similarly, virtualization can reduce costs within a business by reducing the number of virtual machines required. Energy needs are also reduced. […]
You can install packages using dpkg. dpkg is quite a useful command line tool. In addition to installing packages, dpkg also helps to remove packages and know the status of packages. While checking the status of packages using dpkg, you may come across the state rc.
Memory you have hot added in Linux guest virtual machines is not registered using the free or top commands.
This issue occurs when Linux requires manual intervention to expose the newly added memory in the guest. The process is called setting the memory to online.
To resolve this issue, set the memory online in RHEL/CentOS, and Ubuntu/Debian.
This guide will explain how to migrate and dockerize an existing WordPress installation without running Apache. Most other tutorials I’ve seen combine multiple services inside of one container, while this article tries to maintain the standard of one service per container for easier isolation, troubleshooting, performance, and scale-out. This consists of configuring multiple Docker containers with docker-compose on Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial to run MariaDB 10.0.31 or MySQL, Nginx 1.13, PHP7.1-FPM and WordPress 4.8. There are many tutorials for creating new WordPress sites with Docker containers such as this one, however there aren’t many for those who already have a site and want to migrate existing […]
Often when you’re working in heterogeneous environments you will be needing to convert the standard Linux format x509/PEM SSL certificate files to the Windows native PFX/p12 format, or vise-versa. The following OpenSSL commands are able to do just about every type of certificate conversion imaginable. Tip .pem, .cer, crt. are all the same type of x509/pem certificate only with different extensions. full certificate chain = public cert + intermediate cert + root cert contained in a single file OpenSSL Convert X509/PEM Convert PEM & Private Key to PFX/P12: openssl pkcs12 -export -out certificate.pfx -inkey privatekey.pem -in certificate.pem -certfile CACert.pem Convert fullchain PEM & Private Key (Let’s […]
